Evocation — Atmospheric¶
Atmospheric is the Evocation Method concerned with large-scale weather and environment. This Method is rare and culturally significant among Kampanni. It is never subtle.
Threads (Atmospheric)¶
- Stormcall — alters weather patterns over time.
- Rising Front — accelerates an existing storm.
Base Ka Cost (Atmospheric)¶
Base Ka: 10
Unlike other Evocation Methods, Atmospheric has no cheap tier — there is no small version of changing the weather. This is deliberate: Atmospheric is Evocation's equivalent of the biggest, most consequential workings in other traditions, and is meant to be gated behind real investment regardless of skill.
Scope¶
| Scope | Ka Modifier | TD Modifier |
|---|---|---|
| Localized shift (a single storm cell, a town-sized front) | +0 | +0 |
| Regional shift (Rising Front — accelerating an existing system) | +4 | +4 |
| Sustained or ongoing pattern | +8 | +8 |
Duration¶
| Duration | Modifier |
|---|---|
| Hours | +0 |
| One day | +3 Ka |
| Multiple days | +6 Ka |
| Persistent | Ritual required |
Channeling Difficulty (Atmospheric)¶
Modifiers: - Working with existing weather (Rising Front): +0 - Creating a pattern from calm conditions (Stormcall): +2 - Against seasonal or regional norms: +4 - Sustaining across multiple days: +2 additional
Burn¶
Burn may be taken to: - accelerate onset instead of waiting the normal buildup - stabilize a faltering or collapsing pattern - push scope one tier higher without paying the full modifier
Visibility and Attention¶
Atmospheric evocation is never subtle by default — see Sorcery Channeling & Ka. This is exactly the kind of large-scale magic that draws dragon notice (see Sorcery Channeling & Ka).
Design Notes¶
- Atmospheric workings of this scale are rarely attempted alone — pairing with Ritual Magic is expected for anything beyond a localized shift.
- This Method should feel like a statement, not a spell: a Kampanni who reshapes weather is making themselves known to the whole region.
